Sensitive skin

When your skin dislikes your hair-removal routine.

Body hair is normal, and removing it is entirely optional. But if you have decided you would like less of it, the method can matter as much as the result — especially when your skin reacts easily.

Choosing hair reduction should feel personal—not pressured.

IPL is one option among several. It is not a treatment for skin conditions or irritation, and it is not right for everyone. What it can offer is a slower, more controlled rhythm you manage at home.

Shaving again already

Regrowth arrives quickly, so the routine never really ends.

Skin that answers back

Redness, tightness or bumps can follow a rushed shave.

Waxing you dread

Appointments to book, hair to grow out, discomfort to plan around.

Creams you'd rather skip

Strong formulas and strong smells are not for every skin.

Last-minute touch-ups

Rushing before plans is where irritation usually begins.

Wanting more control

Your own pace, your own setting, in your own bathroom.

Why Velora

Built around care, consistency and control.

Start low, build slowly

Begin at the lowest setting your handset offers and increase only when it feels comfortable.

Patch test, every time it matters

A patch test on each new area, exactly as the supplied instructions describe, before a full session.

Entirely at home

No appointments and no waiting rooms. You decide when the session happens, and how long it lasts.

A repeatable rhythm

IPL rewards consistency. Follow the schedule in your manual and keep the routine easy to return to.

Clear compatibility guidance

We publish the limits as plainly as the benefits, so you can check suitability before you buy.

Support you can reach

Questions before or after your order go to a real inbox, and we answer them honestly.

The handset

The Velora IPL Handset

An at-home intense pulsed light device for people who want to reduce visible hair regrowth on compatible skin and hair, at their own pace.

  • Designed for use at home, on your own schedule
  • Intended for a gradual, repeated routine rather than one-off use
  • Supplied with the manufacturer's instructions, including compatibility and approved areas
  • Full specifications, settings and approved treatment areas are listed on the product page

Individual results vary. Suitable skin and hair combinations only.

How IPL works

The light behind smoother-looking skin.

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. The handset delivers controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light onto the skin's surface.

1

A controlled light pulse

You place the window against the skin and release a pulse of light across the treatment area.

2

Pigment absorbs the light

On suitable skin-tone and hair-colour combinations, pigment in the hair can absorb that light.

3

Regrowth may look reduced

With consistent use over time, visible regrowth may become finer or sparser for some people.

At-home IPL is not professional laser treatment, and it is not a medical treatment.

Professional treatments use different equipment and are carried out by trained practitioners. At-home IPL is a beauty device intended for gradual hair reduction on compatible skin and hair. Individual results vary. Suitable skin and hair combinations only.

The routine

A careful start matters more than a fast one.

Your supplied instructions are the authority on preparation, settings and timing. This is the shape of a sensible first routine.

  1. STEP 01

    Prepare

Read the supplied manual fully first, and prepare the area exactly as it instructs.

  2. STEP 02

    Patch test

Patch test each new area following the manual, and wait as long as it specifies before continuing.

  3. STEP 03

    Begin low

Start at the lowest setting available on your handset and increase only when it feels comfortable.

  4. STEP 04

    Stay consistent

Keep to the schedule in your instructions, and treat only the areas the manufacturer approves.

If your skin reacts unexpectedly

Stop using the device and follow the guidance in your supplied instructions. Do not pulse the same point repeatedly unless the manual explicitly permits it, and seek advice from a qualified professional if you are unsure.

Check your treatment area first.

Approved treatment areas differ between devices, so we do not publish an area guide that is not taken directly from your handset's own instructions. The approved areas for this handset — and the areas it must never be used on — are listed in the manufacturer's manual supplied with your order and on the product page.

Never use IPL near the eyes, or on tattoos, dark moles, broken or irritated skin, or any area the manufacturer excludes.

Facial use is only appropriate if the manufacturer approves it, and only within the exact boundary the manual defines. If your instructions do not clearly permit an area, do not treat it.

What progress looks like

Gradual, not overnight.

Hair grows in cycles, and those cycles differ from person to person and area to area. Rather than promise a week or a session count, here is the honest shape of the journey.

Patch and learn

Get to know the handset, patch test, and find the lowest setting that feels comfortable to you.

Build consistency

Follow the schedule in your instructions. Consistency does more for IPL than intensity.

Look for gradual change

Some people notice regrowth looking finer or sparser over time. Others notice little change.

Move to maintenance

Switch to a maintenance rhythm only when your supplied instructions say it is appropriate.

Individual results vary.

At-home IPL is not better than every alternative — it is simply a different approach, and it suits some people and not others.

Compatibility

Please read this before you buy.

IPL is not suitable for everyone, and that is not fine print. Your handset's own instructions define its exact limits — these are the questions to settle first.

Skin tone and hair colour

IPL relies on pigment in the hair absorbing light, so it does not work the same way for every combination of skin tone and hair colour. Very light, grey, red or white hair generally does not respond, and deeper skin tones may fall outside a device's approved range. Check the chart supplied with your handset against your own skin and hair before your first session.

Patch test, then wait

Patch test each new area and wait exactly as long as your instructions specify before treating a full area. If the patch test leaves any reaction you are unsure about, do not continue.

Sun, tanning and self-tan

Recently tanned skin — from sun, sunbeds or self-tanning products — is generally not appropriate for IPL. Follow the timings and precautions given in your supplied instructions rather than guessing.

Where not to use it

Never near the eyes, and not on tattoos, dark moles, broken, sunburnt or irritated skin, or any area your manufacturer excludes. Facial and intimate areas are only permissible where the manual explicitly approves them, within its stated boundary.

Medications and health conditions

Some medications and conditions make light-based devices unsuitable. Your instructions list the contraindications for this handset; if anything applies to you, or you are unsure, speak to a qualified healthcare professional first.

Where to check

The supplied manual is the authority for this device.

Transparency

Clear support, before and after your order.

We do not put dermatologists, certifications or press logos on this page unless they are real and verifiable. What we can offer is straightforward information and a way to reach us.

Delivery timeframes, returns and any warranty that applies to your order are published in full on our policy pages, and they are the only version that counts.

Your instructions come with the handset

The manufacturer's manual is included in the box. It is the authority on settings, approved areas, schedule and care.

FAQs

Questions worth asking first.

What is IPL?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. A handset delivers controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light onto the skin. On compatible skin-tone and hair-colour combinations, pigment in the hair can absorb that light, and with consistent use over time visible regrowth may look finer or sparser. It is a beauty device, not a medical treatment.

Can people whose skin is easily irritated consider it?

IPL may be suitable for some people whose skin is easily irritated by other hair-removal methods, but compatibility, patch testing, the lowest comfortable setting, and the supplied instructions still matter. It is not a treatment for irritation or for any skin condition, and it is not suitable for everyone. If you have any concern about your skin, speak to a qualified professional before you start.

What does a session feel like?

Sensation differs between people, areas and settings, so we will not describe it as painless or comfortable on your behalf. Many people describe a brief sensation of warmth or light with each pulse. Begin at the lowest setting your handset offers and increase only when it feels comfortable to you.

Which skin tones and hair colours are compatible?

Because IPL depends on pigment in the hair, very light, grey, white or red hair generally does not respond, and deeper skin tones may fall outside a device's approved range. Compatibility ranges differ by device, so check the chart supplied with your handset — that chart, not general advice, defines what is appropriate for you.

What is the treatment schedule, and should I shave first?

Session frequency, preparation and shaving instructions differ between devices, so we only publish what the manufacturer states for the handset you receive. Follow the supplied manual exactly rather than a schedule found elsewhere, and contact us if anything in it is unclear.

Which areas are approved, and can it be used on the face?

Approved areas — including whether any facial area is permitted, and where its boundary lies — are defined by the manufacturer for each device and listed in the supplied instructions and on the product page. If your instructions do not clearly approve an area, do not treat it.

What about tattoos, moles, and broken or irritated skin?

Do not use IPL over tattoos, on dark moles, or on broken, sunburnt or irritated skin, and never near the eyes. Work around these areas entirely and follow every exclusion listed in your supplied instructions.

What are the sun and tanning precautions?

Recently tanned skin — whether from sun, sunbeds or self-tanning products — is generally not appropriate for IPL, and sun exposure after a session usually needs care too. Follow the exact timings and precautions in your supplied instructions instead of estimating.

When might I see a change, and how is this different from professional laser?

Hair grows in cycles that differ from person to person, so we do not promise a change by a particular week or session count. Individual results vary, and some people see little change. At-home IPL is also not professional laser treatment: clinics use different equipment operated by trained practitioners.

Where can I find shipping, returns and warranty terms?

The current terms are published in full on our shipping, returns and warranty pages, and those pages are the only version that applies to your order. We do not summarise them here so that nothing on this page can become out of date.
